Things to Do before October 31

10/27/2020

Comments

Fall flies by and before you know it the trees are bare and the days are cold. Here are some things we highly recommend you squeeze in. Some of the activities listed are seasonal and close after October 31, others simply are best enjoyed with the fall foliage and warmer temps!

See the Longhouse at Ganondagan

Ganondagan is a Native American historic site featuring beautiful hiking trails and a Seneca Bark Longhouse to Tour until October 31.  The Longhouse is open Wednesday - Saturday 9 AM to 4:00 PM. There is a knowledgeable staff member at the longhouse who answered all of our questions after the self guided tour.  There is an admission fee to explore the museum and longhouse- Adults - $8, Seniors – $4, Students (12 yrs. – College) - $4, Children (5 – 11 yrs.) - $2, Children (birth – 4yrs.) – Free⁣. Masks are required in the museum and long house and they reach capacity quickly! You may want to call ahead or be prepared to be flexible. Happy Hiking!

Hike at Letchworth

Letchworth State Park is a wonderful place to visit any time of the year but it is a must-see in the fall!⁣
⁣
We've talked about a hike and some playgrounds we hit up within the park weeks ago, but here's some tips before heading out:⁣
  • The $10 vehicle entrance fee is collected daily from 5/25 - 10/28: 9 am - 5 pm. ⁣
  • To avoid the fee, plan ahead and check out the Empire State Pass from the Library for free entry. You can search online to see what libraries offer this pass ⁣
  • The park has been filling to capacity on weekends. Try to visit on weekdays and early mornings and be sure to check the website before heading out for any closure notifications.⁣
  • The upper/middle falls area is most popular and thus likely to fill to capacity faster. Consider driving a bit further to hike the lower falls and avoid the crowds. ⁣
