When those little ones take big steps to riding a bike or scooter, it is often best for everyone involved to find an area that is away from the road and not heavily populated with pedestrians and other cyclists. Many playgrounds have a short track perfect for racing or taking the bike for a spin. Here's a list of the tracks and trails we love!
1648 Five Mile Line Rd, Penfield, NY 14526
Rothfuss Park is a great spot to go for the experienced Balance Bike rider or any kid looking to go up and down small hills. This is a wide and paved path with several different loops giving you options on how far you want to run beside your little cyclist. There is a small 1/6 mile loop near Jack's Place Playground and a larger 1/4 mile loop if you follow the path to the bathroom shelter and beyond. You could combine these two paths to make the trip longer or choose to do the 1+ mile loop around the entire park!
Union Station Park
25 Rock Island Rd, North Chili, NY 14514
Many go to Union Station Park for the splash pad and playground but there is also a paved 3/4 mile loop adjacent to the playground. If you get tired, there is a shortcut to make it a 1/2 mile loop. The path is narrow but not often used. There are no roads or parking lots near the trail so take off those training wheels and practice away!
Levi Corser Memorial Park
6702 County Road 32, Canandaigua, NY 14424
At Levi Corser Memorial Park, there is a track around the entire park and playground that is just under 1/2 mile. The path is a little rocky so it is probably better for a jog or kids that aren't just starting off on the bike or scooter. Be sure to stop by the playground after!
Wegman Road Park
510 Wegman Rd, Rochester, NY 14624
There is a perfect child-sized track at Wegman Road Park. The track is a 1/8 mile loop located behind the playground. Currently, there is a story trail on display along the track so be sure to stop and read as the kids scoot, peddle or run around the trail.
Mark Tubbs Park
7384 Ziegler Dr, Lima, NY 14485
Mark Tubbs Park is a beautiful and secluded area with a playground and about a 1/2 mile loop that is roughly paved. This is a narrow path that isn't heavily used. It is far from the parking lot and road so perfectly safe for those crazy drivers and wild runners.
Titus Ave, Irondequoit, NY 14617
This 1/2 mile track is almost entirely fenced in and loops around the playground at Joshua Park. It is near the parking lot so no need to lug the kids, bikes and scooters too far to get to the track! The playground is in the center of the track and is suitable for babies and Grandmas alike!
Veteran's Memorial Park
3100 Atlantic Ave, Penfield, NY 14526
Veteran's Memorial Park is expansive with options to walk, jog or bike anywhere from 1/8 mile to over 2 miles! There's many options that loop back to your starting point so be sure to look at a map to pick your preferred path and distance. We like to start off at the Tot Trail right off of the playground off of Veterans Park Way.
