Katie is a mom of 3 who loves spending time outside with her family.

Tell us about yourself!
Hi! My name is Katie. My husband of 10 years and I are blessed with three tiny humans. They are 6, 4 and 2 years old. We moved to Chili 4 years ago from southern Ohio.

What's is your favorite local playground?
Kids Canyon in Greece. My three love to climb and run. This space offers challenges for my bigs without creating space where I fear my little will get hurt. It's fenced in which means I can actually turn my back every once in awhile to play with each kiddo individually or (gasp) check my phone messages really quick;). There is a splash pad right next to it that costs $5/person but worth every penny. A walking path takes you around a small pond and the Greece library is also a short walk from all of this. BONUS Tim Hortons is on the way so mama can grab a large iced coffee.

What's your favorite Library?
We frequent the Chili library most often and we love it. The friendliest of librarians, fantastic story times and activities throughout the year that we love. I especially love that there are no tablets/iPads sitting out for the children to access. I love that there are no distractions from free play and book hunting.

If you had $1000 and 3 days, what would be your ideal Rochester staycation?
We would just spoil ourselves with all our favorite foods and drinks. For the babes and I that means all the smoothies and juices from Just Juice and Revolution Studio Wellness. For the kids and I we would also buy loads of macaroons from Sweet Sammie Jane's and share them with everyone we see. I would splurge for a babysitter and a Lyft so my husband and I could day trip hop around to all the local breweries and our favorite restaurants. We would order out for every meal keeping the kitchen clean. Lots of sushi from Wegmans, Indian from India House Express, pizza from Good Guys, tacos from John's Tex Mex and all the tots from Swillburger

What is your go-to family friendly activity?
Hiking. We love finding new trails. Mendon Ponds, Tinker Nature Park and Black Creek Park are the three we frequent. They all offer wide enough trails for the kids to run and roam safely.

What is your favorite Rochester hidden gem?
Genesee River walkway/bike path. We just discovered it last summer. We love to park at the playground and then hop onto the path from there. It's a breath of fresh air with the view of the city and wooded areas full of wildlife. Recently we stopped at DINOSAUR BBQ for lunch before turning around.

What do you do with the kiddos during those long Rochester winters?
We dress for the weather. We have invested in great winter gear so that we can still spend loads of time outside. We feed the chickadees at Mendon Ponds and go sledding in Highland Park. We also visit the Lamberton Conservatory on sunny cold days. It reminds us that spring will come again.

What advice to you have for fellow mamas?
It's better to be late than stressed. Invite friends over even when your house is a mess. They don't care. Smile at other Mamas and Papas every chance you get. We are all doing the best we can so don't judge how others parent. Just offer to help every chance you get and lend a listening ear as much as possible.
