Description: Harris Whalen Park is the perfect stop between shopping trips to Aldi and Wegmans. Conveniently located directly across the street from the Penfield Wegmans, Harris Whalen Park offers hiking, sledding and a nicely shaded playground. There are two playgrounds at this park, as well as the school playground nearby available after school hours. The park has a shelter and bathroom house very close to the main playground as well as a wooded hiking trail.
Notes: The park has two playgrounds with two seperate parking areas for each. The preferred playground does not have a swingset so to get to the swings you may have to walk through tall grass/mud or drive down to the lower lot. The newer, shaded playground is at the very end of the road at the top of the hill. Hiking trail is not stroller friendly.

JACK'S PLACE at ROTHFUSS PARK

What We Love: The giant sandbox is a favorite for the 3 year old and I love the guarantee that other playmates will almost always be present!

Description: Jack's Place is a unique dinosaur-themed playground that features a large sandbox filled with shovels, brushes and other toys to dig for dinosaur bones. A fitness trail can also be found winding around the park.
Notes: The playground is in direct sunlight with few opportunities for shade. The bathroom is a bit of a walk from the playground and the "hiking" is a paved path. This park frequently attracts a large but pleasant crowd. Download QR reader on phone for fitness trail

ROTHFUSS PARK *NEW* INCLUSIVE PLAYGROUND

Description: This is an all inclusive playground recently opened in the fall of 2020 at Rothfuss Park. The play structure is perfect for younger children as it has ramps, small slides, is mulch free and even has a large tandem style swing! You will notice a few musical aspects as well. With its own parking lot and pavilion with picnic benches this is sure to be a new favorite! Check out Jack Place playground which is a short walk on the other side of the field, or take a hike at Irene Nature Preserve right across the street!

SPRING LAKE PARK

Description: Spring Lake Park is the place to go for dog owners as it is a very dog friendly park. Dog owners enjoy bringing their dogs to the back of the park to run around. Along with the shaded playground and picnic area, the park features a creek. The park is secluded, quite and shaded with lots of room to run around.

VETERAN'S MEMORIAL PARK- PENFIELD

Description: Veteran's memorial Park in Penfield is an extensive park with much to offer. What makes this park unique, however, is its exercise trail for kids, which is made up of kid-friendly fitness stations along a short path. The playground is up to date and in great shape. There are also some fairy houses just a short walk from the playground, located directly behind the amphitheater. On the grounds one can also find nature trails, amphitheater, little league complex, soccer fields, picnic pavilion, enclosed lodge for rent, a large paved walking path, tennis courts, basketball court, and a gazebo.
Notes: The park is not well marked so be sure to map out hiking trails, playground, fishing pond, etc before going! There is not much seating around the playground. Playground entrance off Jackson Road on Veterans Park Way
