629-649 Marsh Rd Pittsford, NY 14534
|
Pro: Great Embankment Park is a large park with much to do. Located along the canal, the park was originally an ideal spot for fishing, strolling the canal and easy kayak/canoe access. The park is often a very popular spot for soccer/softball/baseball games. It is loved for its vast amount of green space and open fields that make it a perfect spot to play with the dog or fly a kite! More recently, the park built a playground and pavilion which has a variety of swings including a baby swing and an adaptive swing seat. There is a fun "animal tracker" station which features buttons that play the animals sound when pressed. The playground is up on a hill so it is far from the road and parking lot and plenty of open space surrounding the playground. There is a newer bathroom shelter at the bottom of the hill and plenty of parking spaces.
Cons: Though the swingset has an adaptive swing seat, the playground itself isn't really handicap accessible. Also to get to the playground, one must walk up a fairly steep hill which can be a con for some. As this park hosts many sporting events, the parking lot can get busy, but there are plenty of spots available. Notes: There is talk that this park was once a landfill. This is a pro for some and a con for others. Do some research and decide for yourself! |
Barker Road Connection, Pittsford, NY 14534
|
Pros: This is a small playground with much to do. There is a wide open field raised and removed from the playground. Right near the playground are two very large rocks perfect for climbing. There is a nice bathroom shelter right next to the playground and plenty of parking.
Cons: There are no swings at this playground and it is in direct sun. It is fairly close to the parking lot put the parking lot is rarely busy unless the field is in use. Notes: Visiting in August? There's a sunflower field down the road near the intersection of Clover and Calkins Rd. |
170 W Jefferson Rd, Pittsford, NY 14534
|
Pros: The playground at Kings Bend Park is far away from the road and surrounded by open grassy area. The park is a beautiful slice of nature right off of Jefferson and so it is a convenient stop when out and about. The ponds are not only scenic but also make for a great fishing spot. There is a big and little slide, making this a nice playground for varying age groups. The park is a wonderful and popular spot for parties.
Cons: The playground itself is nothing special. There is often many geese that roam the grounds. The park claims to be handicap accessible but the path is gravel, mulch on the playground and there aren't any adaptive swings or ramps on the play structure itself so it can be difficult to maneuver for some. Notes: There are picnic tables and grills available for general use. The lodges can be reserved for birthday parties. |
555 Kreag Rd, Pittsford, NY 14534
|
Pros: Kreag Road Park is one of the few local playgrounds with a stocked sand box for children to enjoy, and its shaded! The park also includes tennis courts, basketball courts and softball fields.
Cons: During our visit, there was inappropriate graffiti along canal. Parking can be limited. Notes: The park is labeled with several deep water warnings. Though the playground is a comfortable distance from the canal, the canal is not barricaded and requires full adult supervision when children are near the water. |

Pros: Powder Mills Park offers year round fun. The fish hatchery is a unique and peaceful experience of feeding fish and the sledding hill is excellent!

35 Lincoln Avenue, Pittsford, NY 14534
|
Pros: This is a new (2018/2019) playground found behind the recently renovated Spiegel Community Center is Pittsford. This hidden playground is partially shaded and walking distance to the village of Pittsford so the kids can cool off with some Froyo at Yotality, or go a little further to the canal and Pittsford Dairy! There is a neat lion statue that is exciting for the little ones to play on and bridges, webs, and a tire swing. There is a large empty lot adjacent to the playground for throwing frisbee, kicking ball or just running around!
Cons: As this is part of the Community Center, the playground can become very populated with recreation programs. Likewise, there are picnic tables but no grills or pavillion. Notes: Bathrooms can be found within the community center. The community center also hosts a free open gym. Click here for details. |
480 Mendon Rd, Pittsford, NY 14534
|
Pros: This Mendon park fits a lot into one space. Along with a turf field, softball field, tennis, wallball and basketball courts, this playground highlights a sledding hill and upscale playground! The playground has many unique structures that sets it apart from the others including a variety of bridges, buttons and rock walls! Bathroom facilities and pavilion are located near the playground.
Cons: The playground is in direct sunlight. The playground is also located right next to Mendon High School so expect traffic during the school year and sporting events. Notes: Unlike most playgrounds that close at dusk, this one closes at 10:00 PM. Bathrooms are seasonal. |
